In 2008, at the age of 19, I left my home state of Kansas, and traveled to the Central African Republic. For the next 5 years, I lived and worked in the remote wilderness of the Chinko river basin. During that time, I played tag with elephants, disturbed sleeping lions, wrestled 5 foot crocodiles, and traveled the fever dream world of malaria and dysentery. Sometimes my adventures were fun- walking across areas that had never before been explored. Others were full of fear and dread, when the infamous LRA rebels (made famous by the viral “Kony 2012” campaign) invaded the area, killing and looting in their path. One thing for sure, my time in the bush forever changed me.

Stay tuned for updates- July 2017…
