My name is Adam Parkison. Born in Kansas, transplanted to Africa, re-planted in Montana, and currently living in Colorado. I have been blessed to be able to follow an adventurous life many people dream of. From Alaska, to Africa, I have spent time in the wildest places, photographing and writing about my adventures through freelance avenues.
Campfiretales was inspired in the African bush, sharing crazy adventure tales with my local companions around the campfire. On this blog, you will find entertaining short stories, photo essays from my expeditions, how-to advice to master the outdoor lifestyle, and the occasional gear review.
My BIG project:
For the last few years, I have been slowly crafting a travel memoir, describing the five years I lived and worked in the Central African Republic, and the creation of the Chinko Project– a new wild preserve there. You will find stories of adventure- wrestling crocodiles, playing tag with elephants, disturbing sleeping lions; as well as stories of danger- battling malaria and other illnesses, living under the constant threat of the LRA rebels (made famous by the “Kony 2012” campaign), and witnessing a war. Please follow me on my other platforms for updates on the release date (2017).
